Lovely Days on 21 June – Music, Yoga, Father’s Day

This weekend 21 June brings together three meaningful global celebrations that invite us to reconnect with the people, passions, and practices that enrich our everyday lives. Falling on the same day, World Father’s Day, World Music Day, and World Yoga Day offer a unique opportunity to celebrate love, creativity, and inner balance — three elements that make life more fulfilling.

Father’s Day is a moment to appreciate the guidance, sacrifices, and unconditional support that fathers and father figures provide. Beyond traditional gestures of gratitude, the day reminds us to celebrate the small moments that build lasting memories — whether it is sharing a meal, revisiting old stories, or simply spending quality time together. Many of us today was also taught business first by our father and mother at home. In today’s fast-paced world, these simple connections can become the most meaningful gifts.

Adding a harmonious rhythm to the celebration is World Music Day, a day dedicated to the universal language of music. From live performances and cultural traditions to personal playlists that accompany daily routines, music has the power to bring people together across different backgrounds. Whether discovering a new artist, playing an instrument, or enjoying familiar melodies with loved ones, this celebration encourages everyone to embrace the joy and emotional connection that music creates.

Meanwhile, International Day of Yoga invites people around the world to slow down and focus on physical and mental well-being. Yoga is not only about movement and flexibility, but also about mindfulness, breathing, and finding balance amid busy lifestyles. Starting the weekend with a yoga session can be a refreshing way to recharge, reflect, and create a sense of calm.

Together, these three celebrations create a weekend theme centered around appreciation, expression, and harmony. They remind us that a fulfilling lifestyle is built not only through achievements, but also through meaningful relationships, creative experiences, and moments of self-care.

The World Music Day (also known as Fête de la Musique) was invented in 1982 by Jack Lang, the French Minister of Culture, and composer Maurice Fleuret. The first official event was launched in Paris on June 21, 1982, deliberately chosen to coincide with the summer solstice. The day was designed to fill public spaces with free, live music, encouraging both amateur and professional musicians to perform in the streets, parks, and on street corners. What started as a local French initiative has since expanded into a global celebration, observed annually in over 120 countries.

Father’s Day was inaugurated in the United States in the early 20th century to complement Mother’s Day in celebrating fathers, fathering, and fatherhood. Father’s Day was founded in Spokane, Washington, at the YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who raised his six children there. The first statewide celebration took place in Washington on 19 June 1910; however, it wasn’t until 1972 that President Richard Nixon signed legislation making Father’s Day.

International Yoga Day 2026 will be celebrated on June 21. The theme for this year is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focusing on promoting physical vitality and mental well-being. The main event will take place in Kolkata, India and other locations worldwide. This year marks the 12th edition of the International Yoga Day, which aims to raise awareness of the benefits of yoga and its holistic approach to health and well-being.

As 21 June arrives, consider embracing the spirit of the day in your own way: celebrate a father figure who has shaped your journey, enjoy the soundtrack that defines your memories, or take a moment to reconnect with yourself through mindful movement. With love, music, and balance coming together, this weekend offers the perfect chance to celebrate life’s simple yet powerful experiences.
